Lottery & Enrollment Information
How do I get my child into a Success Academy school?
You must first submit an application for each child who is age-eligible. Once you have applied, entry to our schools is done by a fair and random lottery. Preference is given to siblings of Success Academy scholars, English Language Learners and to students who reside in the school's Community School District.
When and where will the lottery take place?
Success Academy will hold its admissions lottery in early April at a Success Academy. Attendance is not required as results will not be distributed that day, but will, as described below, be distributed via mail by mid-April. If you would like more information about the lottery, please contact us.
What are the preferences given to applicants?
Returning students have admissions priority. Lottery preferences are provided for:
- Siblings of current or accepted students
- English Language Learners ("ELLs") (prioritizing ELLs residing within the Community School District ("CSD") of location of the school before ELLs residing outside of the CSD of location of the school)
- Applicants who reside within the CSD of location of the school
Each year, our schools will set aside a percentage of seats for ELLs relatable to the average ELL percentage at traditional public schools in New York City and/or the CSDs in which our schools are located. This year, the ELL set-aside percentage for the schools' admissions lotteries will be 20%. This percentage may vary in future years.
When will I find out if my child is accepted?
Applicants will receive notification of lottery results by mail in mid-April.
When will the waitlist be updated?
The waitlist will be updated throughout the summer and families will be informed as soon as possible if they are accepted off the waitlist. The waitlist will be updated throughout the summer and until or before early fall.
