About Our School:

Led by Monica Burress, Success Academy Bed-Stuy 1 opened in 2011. With 240 scholars, the school is located at 70 Tompkins Avenue in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. The area has undergone major renovations, which can be seen in the opening of many new stores, bakeries, and restaurants. The school is close to the G Myrtle-Willoughby Avenues stop and the J/M Flushing stop.

Monica Burress, Leader of Success Academy Bed-Stuy 1

Before joining Success Academy Charter Schools, Monica worked as the Admissions Director at The East Harlem School. She is most passionate about helping scholars and families access equality of education and ensuring that every child acts on their right to a world-class education. Knowing she is part of a movement that’s working to make that happen keeps her motivated everyday. Monica graduated from the University of Phoenix with a major in psychology.
