Gearing Up to Grow to 100 Schools, Success Academy Taps Top Talent from Other Sectors

NYC’s Largest Charter Network Hires Former GE and Accenture Executives as Head of Leadership and Human Resources and Chief Technology Officer

NEW YORK, NY – Today, New York’s largest public charter school network announced key hires to support ambitious scaling efforts. With more than 20 years of experience as a global human resources leader, Aparna Ramaswamy joins Success as the network’s first Head of Leadership and Human Resources to oversee the holistic human capital function – from Talent Acquisition and Learning and Development to all aspects of Human Resources – bringing them together to reimagine and scale Success Academy’s people functions. Keith Tobias, who joined Success as Chief Technology Officer in July from Accenture, will lead all the network’s technology efforts.

As the network looks to grow to 100 schools in the next decade, Success has brought in talent from other sectors to reimagine public education. Ramaswamy will be charged with building a pipeline of world-class talent, increasing leadership capacity across the schools and network, and developing and fostering a scalable learning environment that equips employees with the skills and capacities to deliver excellent outcomes for children.

“As an organization committed to transforming public education, Success Academy has often attracted leaders from other sectors,” said Eva Moskowitz, Founder and CEO of Success Academy Charter Schools. “Aparna and Keith bring deep experience and diverse skill sets to Success, which will be invaluable as we scale rapidly to meet parent demand.”

Ramaswamy comes to Success from Bridgewater Associates, where she spent five years first as Chief Operating Officer of Human Resources and then as Co-Head of Human Resources, responsible for overall strategy and execution, and leading the transformation of the HR function. Prior to Bridgewater, Ramaswamy spent 15 years at General Electric, most recently as Global Head of Human Resources for Corporate Commercial & Communications. In this capacity, she oversaw the global HR strategy and functional development for GE’s diverse commercial organization which totals approximately 40,000 employees.

Adding to the leadership team, Tobias comes to Success after 21 years at Accenture where he focused on global, large-scale implementations of enterprise platforms across multiple industries and technologies working with familiar brands such as Nike, Converse, Ralph Lauren, Sharp Electronics, and Ricoh. Throughout his career, Tobias has also held several positions focused on building internal skills, capacities, and centers of excellence related to industrialized estimation and program delivery. Tobias’ leadership on all technology efforts across infrastructure, security, software development, data management, and analytics is essential to fortifying the network’s foundation for scaling to 100 exceptional schools in New York City.
