At the Success Academy Basketball Championships, Middle Schoolers Leave it All On the Court

Four seconds remain on the clock, and the SA Harlem North West basketball team trails by a point against the previously undefeated SA Bronx 2 team. Scholar Khristian Martinez stands at the free-throw line — looking as calm and collected as any pro — and sinks the game-changing shot. Cheers erupt from the crowd of parents, teachers, and friends who came to attend the Success Academy middle school championships.

This was just one exciting moment in a weekend packed with several rounds of fast-paced, nail-biting games. As our middle school teams competed for the coveted championship trophy, it became clear that our coaches had succeeded in fostering essential skills, high levels of determination, and winning mindsets in their scholars. The tournament exemplified the passionate playing and commendable sportsmanship that our scholars have demonstrated throughout the season.

Congratulations to all our middle schoolers who participated in the SA Network Basketball Championships, and a huge shout-out to the commitment shown by all of our coaches this season! Thanks also to our host schools, SA Bronx 1 (Harlem/Bronx division, seventh and eighth grades) and SA Cobble Hill (Brooklyn division, Harlem/Bronx division, fifth and sixth grades).
