What My Daughter’s Teacher Means to Our Family
My daughter is Rachel Baez, a scholar at Success Academy Bronx 4. Her kindergarten teacher is Ms. Roth and she is the best of the best. Throughout the school year she has always been so patient with me, answering my 101 questions.
When we call her or text her about homework, she responds within minutes. She has even worked through number stories over the phone with us. Many times I have texted her during trips just to make sure Rachel is okay. She has always responded, assuring me that my daughter is safe and okay.
Ms. Roth has been there for Rachel when she has needed extra help. She has given her extra packets to practice No Hesitation Math at home. She has taught her how to simplify numbers by using base 10 for number stories. She also has pushed her and motivated her to read past her grade level. Rachel now reads at a level J.
Ms. Roth motivates her scholars who show effort and go Beyond Z. She rewards them with “time ins” — extra time when they can color, make crafts, and read on an iPad. When all scholars receive 100 percent on a spelling test, she celebrates their success and treats them to donuts. She also has dance parties and popcorn parties, and gives handmade crowns to scholars who uphold the school’s A.C.T.I.O.N values.
Ms. Roth is a great teacher with a special gift for children. We are so happy to appreciate her this week. Ms. Roth, this is what you mean to our family:
M — Motivation through creativity
S — Scholars Pledge of A.C.T.I.O.N Values
R — Respectful to all scholars and families
O — Organized Classroom
T — Teaching scholars to go Beyond Z
H — Hugging, hearing, and helping scholars.
Thank you Success Academy for giving my scholar the best education. I am especially thankful to the teachers who work tirelessly and patiently with my scholar every day.
